The Assessor Skill Set provides the skills and knowledge to confidently assess participants and contribute to the delivery of surf lifesaving education within your club.

Develop your assessment skills while supporting members through their learning journey and helping maintain high-quality assessments across Surf Life Saving SA.

By completing the Assessor Skill Set, you’ll gain:

  • A nationally recognised Skill Set – able to be used in any employment or volunteer role where training is needed

  • Recognition for your lifesaving expertise

  • Satisfaction in helping others on their lifesaving journey

  • Invaluable leadership experience

2027 Assessor Course

If you’ve been a trainer, or hold a high school teaching qualification, take the next step to become an Assessor. The Assessor’s Skill Set Course is delivered at Surf House by expert trainers from SLSQ. Places are highly sought after and strictly limited.

To be selected, you must be able to:

  • Complete the eLearning

  • Commitment to attend all workshop dates – 6 full days across 3 weekends.

o   Weekend 1: 7 & 8 Feb (Junior Carnival)

o   Weekend 2: 28 Feb & 1 March (Senior State Carnival)

o   Weekend 3: 22 & 23 March (Aussies)

  • Commit to undertaking the Probationary Assessor process and assessing at least one Award for your club for a minimum of one season.

Cost: If you are selected, SLSSA will cover the $1,500 course fee.
