A new era of surf sports competition in South Australia is here
The Infront Southern Surf Series is the evolution of the SA Surf League, bringing a fresh individual racing format to South Australia’s coastline. Across three rounds at Goolwa and Moana, athletes will go head-to-head in fast-paced Swim, Board and Ski races, with more opportunities for competitors from U14 through to Open and Masters to get involved.
Multiple short-course races mean more chances to compete, more action in the water and points up for grabs every round. The competition builds towards a double-points final round, where the overall series winners will be crowned.
Whether you’re chasing a place in an Open final, building experience in the junior ranks or taking on the Masters field, every race counts.

HOW THE SERIES WORKS
Race your age group
Competitors take part in random round-robin heats within their age group, racing multiple times over a short course in each discipline.
Earn points
Points are awarded for your finishing position in each race. Your results contribute to a discipline result and an overall score for the round.
Build your series score
Points accumulate across all three rounds. After Round 3, the highest cumulative scores determine the overall series winners in each age group and gender.
Every round matters, but the final round could change the series standings.
Open finals and junior qualification
Open finals take place after the round-robin heats in each discipline:
- Single Ski: top 12 qualify for the Open final.
- Board Race: top 10 qualify for the Open final.
- Surf Race: top 8 qualify for the Open final.
Junior competitors can also earn a place in an Open final:
- U17: top 4 in Board and Single Ski, and top 6 in Surf Race.
- U15: top 2 in Board and Surf Race.

Each race earns points based on finishing position:

Series points
The series points table is used to calculate cumulative standings across the three rounds. Points are awarded through to 50th place.

Points continue down to 50th place, which receives 1,345 points. Round 3 series points are doubled.
Spot the Series Leaders
At each round, the current series leaders will stand out from the field in a yellow high-vis singlet, while all other competitors will race in pink high-vis.
Series leaders will also receive an Infront Southern Surf Series leader cap, recognising their position at the top of the standings.
As the series progresses, the yellow high-vis will follow the leader - giving competitors something extra to race for at every round.
AWARDS & PRIZE MONEY
Open prize money is awarded separately to male and female competitors in Swim, Board and Ski, with winners determined by cumulative points in each discipline across all three rounds.

No cash prize money is awarded in Junior or Masters categories.
