The Awards and Recognition Committee is responsible for receiving and reviewing nominations for both Life Membership and Hall of Fame inductions, assessing each submission against the established criteria. These honours are typically presented annually at the Surf Life Saving South Australia Awards of Excellence.

Life membership is awarded to members who have rendered distinguished voluntary service to SLSSA. To be considered as distinguished service the service must be both sustained and provide a conspicuous contribution. Life Membership nominations are endorsed by the Board and voted on by State Council.

The Surf Life Saving South Australia Hall of Fame commemorates and recognises members and teams who have achieved outstanding accomplishments and exceptional contributions to the development of surf lifesaving. Hall of Fame inductions are voted on by the Board.
