Recognising Ambulance Officer’s Credentials in Surf Lifesaving

Surf Lifesaving Australia (SLSA) is investigating how they can recognise the credentials and experience of members who are Ambulance Officers.

SLSA have engaged an external consultant to coordinate this project. Each State/Territory has been asked to nominate one member to provide information regarding what that State/Territory’s Ambulance Service requires their officers to do for initial qualification and ongoing professional development. This is particular in relation to First Aid, CPR and Advance Resuscitation.

The aim is to make it as easy as possible for Ambulance Officers to be recognised, whilst still meeting all standards.

Can you help?

If you have a working knowledge of SA’s Ambulance Officer or SAAS Paramedic PD framework and are willing to spend some time answering questions a SLS engaged consultant has, we’d love to hear from you.

How to get involved

Please send an email expressing your interest to Kate.smyth@surflivesavingsa.com.au including the following details:

  • Your Name:

  • Your Club:

  • Your Ambulance role and employer:

  • Length of time as an Ambulance Officer:

  • Phone number:

  • A statement advising you are happy for SLSSA to pass your contact details on to the consultant.

To keep this project moving forward in a timely manner we encourage you to nominate as soon as possible.
