Club support roles help keep Surf Life Saving activities organised, safe and running smoothly behind the scenes. From maintaining essential equipment to assisting with events, administration, fundraising, maintenance, first aid, communications, technology and more, there are opportunities to suit a wide range of skills, interests and abilities. Many roles require no formal qualifications, with training and support available to help you get started.
Gear Steward
What is it?
Gear Stewards play an important behind-the-scenes role in ensuring club equipment is well maintained, stored safely and ready for patrols, training, carnivals and community programs. You may look after boards, flags, running gear, tents, buoys, rescue tubes and lifesaving equipment, while maintaining accurate equipment records and assisting with set-up and pack-up at club activities and events.
Will I need to get wet? No
This could suit you if you are:
Practical, hands-on and attentive to detail
Organised and comfortable maintaining accurate equipment records
Reliable and proactive in identifying maintenance needs
Confident following safety procedures and equipment requirements
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Happy to assist with event set-up, pack-up and other practical tasks
Interested in helping keep club equipment safe and ready for use
