From coordinating team logistics, safety and wellbeing to managing entries, results and event administration behind the scenes, these roles allow you to stay close to the action and play an important part in every team’s success, without having to enter the water.

Team Manager

What is it?

Team Managers coordinate the safety, wellbeing, logistics and organisation of surf sports teams throughout competitions, from departure through to return. You’ll support athletes and officials, manage practical arrangements and help create a positive, well-organised team environment. Working close to the action, you’ll play a key role in the team’s success.

Where can it lead?

Team Manager experience can support progression into state and national representative team roles, including opportunities at major national and international competitions.

What are the requirements?

  • Minimum 18 years old  

  • Have a current Working with Children Check

Will I need to get wet? No

Surf Sports Administration

What is it?

Surf Sports Administration is a vital behind-the-scenes role that supports the smooth, professional running and success of training sessions, carnivals and competitions. You may manage entries, organise age groups, coordinate officials and record results, helping events run efficiently so athletes, coaches and volunteers can focus on their roles.

What are the requirements?

This could suit you if you are:

  • Organised, reliable and attentive to detail

  • Comfortable using computers and maintaining accurate records

  • A clear communicator who works well with others

  • Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities

  • Interested in helping training sessions and competitions run smoothly behind the scenes

Set-Up and Pack-Up (Work Party)

What is it?

Set-up and pack-up volunteers, often known as the work party, prepare and restore the equipment and spaces needed for patrol activities and events. You may place flags, erect tents, move gear and pack equipment away, helping the club operate safely and efficiently while sharing the workload across the team.
