South Australian team selected for the 2025 SLSA Interstate Surf Boat Challenge

Surf Life Saving SA is thrilled to congratulate the eight surf boat crews selected for the 2025 SLSA Interstate Surf Boat Challenge.

The SLSA Interstate Surf Boat Challenge will take place alongside the ASRL Open in Coffs Harbour, NSW, from the 13th to the 16th of February.

Badges And Medals to sign on as official SLSSA medal supplier for the next three years

Surf Life Saving South Australia (SLSSA) is excited to announce Badges And Medals as its official medal supplier for the next three years.

The collaboration will kick off with custom-made medals for the Glenelg Sprint Challenge, being held on December 20th and 21st.

SLSSA Head of Sport, David Visockis, said his team are eager to work with Badges And Medals as SLSSA continue to elevate its sports events and further invest in their surf sports athletes.

“The outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail by Badges And Medals certainly stood out to us. We look forward to celebrating and presenting our athletes with high-quality medals they can be proud to wear,” Mr Visockis said.

SLSSA chief executive officer, Damien Marangon, added: “We’re thrilled to partner with an organisation that not only produces an exceptional product, but also shares our values in sustainability and care for the environment”.

Badges And Medals chief executive officer Hamish Larsen said he couldn't be more excited about the collaboration.

"Surf Life Saving South Australia is an incredible organisation, and we're proud to help honour their participants with medals that are second to none,” said Larsen.

Badges And Medals already provide medals for Surf Life Saving Australia, FIBA, the Los Angeles Marathon and the Melbourne Marathon.

Call for Expressions of Interest: Help Deliver the 2025 Rippers Program

Surf Life Saving South Australia (SLSSA) is excited to announce the 2025 Rippers program and is seeking expressions of interest to contribute as instructors or provide water cover. This vital program teaches essential water safety and survival skills to children in the Riverland. Click here for more information about the Program.

We’re looking for passionate SLSSA members or Community Programs Instructors to fill the following roles:

Paid Instructor Roles

We are seeking three instructors for the Murray Bridge program. Instructors will be paid for their work, leading engaging and educational sessions for participants. Instructors must be able to commit to the entire program.

Volunteer Water Cover Roles

Volunteer water cover is essential to ensuring the safety of participants. Volunteers may commit to as many or as few sessions as they wish.

• Murray Bridge: Two volunteers required per session

• Lake Bonney and Renmark: Two volunteers at each location per session

Volunteers will be supported with travel and accommodation costs if required

Requirements for All Roles

All applicants must:

• Hold an up-to-date Working with Children Check and provide this to SLSSA if it is not already listed on their SurfGuard profile.

• Have completed one of the following child safety inductions:

  • Play by the Rules Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport induction course, or

  • Surf Life Saving Australia Child Safe course.

Requirements for Volunteer Water Cover

Applicants must:

• Be 16 years old or over, and

• Hold a rescue qualification, which can be one of the following:

  • Surf Life Saving Australia Bronze Medallion,

  • Surf Life Saving Australia Surf Rescue Certificate, or

  • Surf Life Saving SA Community Surf Rescue Certificate.

Requirements for Instructors

Applicants must:

• Be 16 years old or over, and

• Hold a rescue qualification (as listed above).

Additionally, instructors must have a teaching qualification, which can include:

• Being an accredited Nippers Age Manager with at least one season of experience,

• Being a current registered Development Coach with Surf Life Saving SA,

• Being a current registered Training Officer with Surf Life Saving SA,

• Holding a Level 1 Surf Coach certification,

• Being a registered teacher with the South Australian Department for Education,

• Being an aquatics instructor for the Department for Education, or

• Holding an AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certification (or equivalent).

We will look favourably on members who have instructed in our Community Programs (VACSWIM, Surf Babies, etc).

Lake Bonney Program

• Dates: Sunday mornings from 19 January 2025 to 2 March 2025, plus SLSSA’s first ever Inland Carnival on Sunday, 9 March 2025 (all Rippers locations and Mildura Life Saving Club in attendance)

• Location: Lake Bonney Foreshore, in front of the Sailing Club

Renmark Program

• Dates: Saturday afternoons from 18 January 2025 to 1 March 2025, plus SLSSA’s first ever Inland Carnival at Lake Bonney on Sunday, 9 March 2025 (all Rippers locations and Mildura Life Saving Club in attendance)

• Location: Grassed area by the Patey Drive Boat Ramp, Renmark

Murray Bridge Program

• Dates:
