2026 Trainer course

To become a Trainer, you’ll need to complete the Volunteer Trainer Delivery Skill Set. This course is delivered once a year at State Centre by expert trainers from SLSQ. Places are highly sought after and strictly limited.

To be selected, you must be able to:

  • Complete the eLearning (approx. 26 hours across several months)

  • Attend ALL workshop dates

o   Workshop 1: Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July (Full Day)

o   Workshop 2: Sunday 19 July (1/2 day)

  • Commit to undertaking the Probationary Trainer process and delivering at least one Award for your club for a minimum of one season.

 Cost: If you are selected, SLSSA will cover the $1,000 course fee.

2026 Assessor Course

If you’ve been a trainer, or hold a high school teaching qualification, take the next step to become an Assessor. The Assessor’s Skill Set Course is delivered once a year at Surf House by expert trainers from SLSQ. Places are highly sought after and strictly limited.

To be selected, you must be able to:

  • Complete the eLearning

  • Attend ALL workshop dates – 6 full days over 3 weekends

o   Workshop 1: Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July

o   Workshop: Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August

o   Workshop: Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October

  • Commit to undertaking the Probationary Assessor process and assessing at least one Award for your club for a minimum of one season.

Cost: If you are selected, SLSSA will cover the $1,500 course fee.
