SLSA Coordinated VETiS Pathway

Who

Members who are also students in year 10, 11 or 12.

Note: Due to the workload, it is recommended that you start this qualification in Year 10 or 11. It can be completed if you are in Year 12 but please speak to your SACE/VET coordinator.

Your SACE/VET coordinator can help you identify whether you are eligible to earn SACE credits for this program.

School Partnerships

Places are initially offered to students from St Michael’s College and Immanuel College through our partnership arrangement. Remaining places are offered to students from other schools.

Cost

The program costs $1,150. This covers:

·       All Surf Award fees

·       The cost of coordinating the program (SLSSA administration fee).

·       Issuing your nationally recognised certificate.

If you have already completed some parts of the program with your surf club, you don’t need to repeat them and your fee will be reduced. Please confirm with your school whether they are subsiding the program and if so, the exact amount you will need to contribute.

When:

Approximately May to November each year.

Pre-requisites

  • Must be a current financial member of a SA Surf Life Saving Club

  • Hold the PUA20119 Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue), obtained in the Bronze Medallion.

Delivery

The course is delivered across approximately 7 days of face-to-face workshops in Terms 2 and 3. You must complete eLearning for each component before each workshop.

As this is a group course, electives are set and you will gain the following awards and qualifications:

  • SMAR

  • Provide First Aid

  • ART

  • Pool Lifeguard

Location

Training will be delivered at Immanuel College pool, SLSSA, and Port Noarlunga Surf Lifesaving Club.
