Lifesaving & Education Conference
SLSSA Frontline Leaders – Lifesaving Leaders and Trainers, Assessors and Facilitators
Unite. Learn. Lead the Way.
Last season was a big one with unique challenges, and a true reflection of the strength and dedication of our club volunteers in both lifesaving and education. At SLSSA, we know that the high standard of rescue ready surf lifesavers across our clubs would not be possible without the close collaboration between these two vital areas.
That is why, in preparation for the 2025/26 season, we are bringing together the leaders of lifesaving and education, those responsible for shaping the next generation of surf lifesavers for a powerful weekend of connection, learning, and insights.
“This conference is a vital opportunity for our frontline leaders in education and lifesaving to gather, connect, and learn,” says Georgia Brazenall, Head of Club and Member Development, SLSSA.
“These two areas are deeply interconnected and essential to delivering safe, skilled, and sustainable services to our communities.”
What's in Store?
Lifesaving CPR
CPR as we know it has had a facelift and SLSA is leading the way as the first national community-based organisation globally to redefine how we perform CPR.
You will be some of the earliest trained members in Lifesaving CPR. This new model critically examines assumptions and debunks myths that have crept in, simplifying our processes by applying evidence-based changes to resuscitation.
This is a chance to get you off your chairs, your hands onto manikins and learn the skills, under the guidance and support of the SLS Australia Lifesaving CPR implementation team.
Lifesaving insights and pre-season updates
The annual Lifesaving Conference brings together passionate lifesavers from across the state for a day of connection, collaboration, and forward planning.
The SLSSA Lifesaving team will present essential updates and key changes for the 2025–26 season, including practical tips and tools to help you streamline patrol and admin tasks, plus new initiatives to recognise and celebrate our members.
We’ll also take a moment to reflect on the incredible efforts of the 2024–25 season, sharing the impact you’ve made through key stats, stories, and statewide achievements.
This year’s program will also create space for open conversation—covering some of the hot topics raised throughout the season, and giving you the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, and help shape the future of lifesaving in South Australia.
A must-attend event that will set the tone for the upcoming patrol season. Providing a chance to get informed, feel inspired and stay ahead of the game.
Professional development for Trainers, Assessors and Facilitators (TAF), and important pre-season information directly from SLSSA and SLSA Education.
“Lifesaving CPR focusses on rapid, team driven resuscitation in real surf environments,” says Miriam Scherer, Head of Member Education, SLSSA.
“It is not a major change to how we do CPR, but an evolution of how we deliver it in our world, to ensure the most successful outcomes for the community. It is critical our key education and lifesaving members undertake this important upskilling opportunity prior to the 2025/26 season.”
