Surf Lifesaving relies on the efforts of our members to maintain a strong, inclusive and valuable movement. Each year, we endeavour to ensure everyone is recognised for their invaluable voluntary service to the community through our Awards & Recognition program, including the Awards Excellence.

SLS SA Awards of Excellence
The Surf Life Saving SA Awards of Excellence recognise the achievements and contributions of members and clubs across a range of categories and areas of surf life saving, including Lifesaver of the Year, Open Athlete of the Year, and the highly-sought after Club of the Year title.
Surf Life Saving SA values the contributions made by our members and we encourage clubs and branches to proactively recognise their members throughout the season by using the range of recognition awards available. The recognition framework include awards for all aspects of surf lifesaving including rescue, sport and volunteers. Some examples include:
State and National Awards of Excellence
National Honours, Meritorious Awards and Commendations
Long Service Awards for patrolling, officiating, coaching, assessing and Age Managing
Local and State Government awards
A number of award winners will go on to represent South Australia at the national annual Surf Life Saving Australia Awards of Excellence.
Each year we celebrate our club and members achievements with an Awards Night. It is the night of nights for Surf Lifesaving SA, we recommend you put it in your calendar!

Life Membership
Life Membership of Surf Life Saving SA is awarded to members who have displayed distinguished or special voluntary service to a Club, Surf Life Saving SA, or Surf Life Saving Australia over a period of at least twenty years.
Surf Life Saving Australia has over 100 life members, view the list of South Australian Life Members.
Hall of Fame
The Surf Life Saving Australia Hall of Fame commemorates and recognises members and teams who have achieved outstanding accomplishments and exceptional contributions to the development of surf lifesaving.
Inductees into the Hall of Fame are recognised in one of three categories - surf life saving, surf life saving administration or surf life saving sport.
National Surf Life Saving Awards of Excellence
Each year, Surf Life Saving Australia recognises the nation’s top surf lifesavers for their dedication and commitment to their communities at their National Awards of Excellence.
