2020 Kozii Enduro Event

Surf Lifesaving SA will be kicking off the 2020-21 season with the Kozii Enduro. It will include endurance racing for swim, board, ski & surf boats for Under 12 –Masters to be held on Saturday 10th October 2020 at West Lakes. Athletes have the choice of racing in discipline specific events or complete all available individual events for the Enduro Gold.

Swim, Board & Ski events will be conducted in the rowing regatta from Oarsman Reserve and the Surf Boats will travel around Delfin Island.

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd for each discipline specific event. Enduro Gold medals will be awarded to the winner & runner up for the best placed athletes across the combined Swim, Board & Ski events in each age group.

Below are the events and distances available. Entry is $25 per competitor ($75 for boat crews), which will be invoiced to clubs post event. Entries via SEMS will open for surf sports officers Friday 4th September 2020 and close 10am on Tuesday 6th October 2020.

Junior & Senior State Championships CANCELLED

As a result of COVID-19, the 2020 SA Junior & Senior State Championships have been cancelled. SLSSA is a community based organisation which exists to save lives and build sustainable, healthy communities and cares for and about our people, therefore these steps were taken to ensure we do not contribute to the spread of COVID-19.

In light of the above, SLSSA will not be charging entry fees for the Junior or Senior State Championships and will wear the costs already incurred, Furthermore, SLSSA will not be charging entry fees for the costs incurred from the Lifesaving State Champs already conducted.

Senior Full Carnival 2

Senior FULL carnival #2 will be held on Sun 9 February 2020 at South Port beach with marshalling from 7.30am for 8am kick off with the new event, 2x1km team run. Being a full carnival there will be 3 x water areas (male/female/youth) + surf boats. March past will be held at 12.30pm and later in the afternoon the beach area will start up. Events for U14-masters age categories, including board rescue in the water + beach relays (male, female + mixed) in the beach area. This carnival is hosted by South port SLSC as part of their 60th anniversary celebrations

Senior Water Carnival #2

VENUE CONFIRMED: West Beach (between Surf Ave & Rockingham St north of the club).

Racing starts at 8.30am in two water areas (male & female).

Senior Beach & Water Carnival #1

Senior beach carnival #1 will be held on Fri 22 Nov at Seacliff beach with marshalling from 5.45pm for 6pm kick off on the sprint track (sprints then relays) followed by flags. Events for U14-masters age categories, including the new Mixed Beach Relay (new states & Aussies event).

Senior water carnival #1 will be held on Sun 24 Nov at Christies Beach. Action kicks off at 8am with the 2km followed by iron, taplin, board, ski, swim, board rescue events in the male, female & youth areas. NOTE: carnival will be held at the northern beach.

SA Surf League wrap up

With a great buzz on the beach, the inaugural SA Surf League event showcased our state’s best athletes on the sand & in the water. Fantastic support saw 13 clubs represented among the 9 teams across beach sprint, flags, swim, board, ski and surf boat disciplines. Pointscores were tight all afternoon with the Brighton/Seacliff ‘REDBLACKS A’ team taking out the overall event (& $3K winning prize money) only 6 points ahead of Westies Waves (one of West Beach’s two teams) and Grange Synergy. Boardriding State Championships Update

This weekends State Championships for Boardriding has been altered due to the weather and surf conditions.

Saturday's events have been POSTPONED, and will be carried over to a another weekend in the near future. Details to come out shortly.

Sunday's events WILL go ahead as planned at Middleton Point, with SHORT BOARD competition starting at 7:30am.

Marshaling will begin at 7:00am with competitors in the first heat entering the water at 7:20 for a prompt start.

There are 2 x Senior Board & Ski Carnivals to be held:

• Sun 20 October - venue confirmed as Moana beach

• Sun 3 November - venue confirmed as Moana beach

Both are morning only carnivals with racing kicking off at 9am. NOTE: carnival #2 will have dry starts/finishes for skis as results will be used for SA Reds team selection. Full details can be found here in the Circular.
