Introducing Our New Surf Sports Team; Stuart Ferenci, Blake Steele and Abbey Lindley.
This season Surf Life Saving SA has a team of three Surf Sports Officers working together to deliver changes to our Surf Sports events and development programs as directed by the Surf Sports review and the 360 degree Office of Sport and Recreation Survey.
Surf Sports Officer Abbey Lindley has had a role re-shape and this year will be looking after; Junior Events, Nipper Programs, Masters Competition, IRB Racing and Coaching.
Blake Steele has joined the team as Abbey’s counterpart and is responsible for; Youth and Senior Events, the Development Academy, State Teams, Pool Rescue Competition and Officials Development. Blake has a degree in Sports and Recreation Management from University of SA. Previous roles he has held include; Program Coordinator and Recreation Support Officer at the City of Tea Tree Gully, Event Operations Assistant with the South Australian Tourism Commission, Strength and Conditioning Coach at St Ignatius College and in Administration at the Australian Sports Commission. Blake was an Australian youth athlete in Athletics and volunteers as a coach as well as Secretary for United Collegians Athletics Club.
Stuart Ferenci joins Surf Life Saving SA in a newly created Senior Surf Sports Officer role. Stuart’s role is to conduct stakeholder engagement; research programming, generate strategic goals and design new formats and programs to advance our Surf Sports in South Australia. Stuart will be working on specific projects to address gaps and fulfil strategic priorities in Surf Sports for SLSSA.
Stuart has extensive experience in Health Club Management and most recently has been Facility Manager at St Clair Recreation Centre where he ran competitions for several sports, worked closely with councils, schools and State Sporting bodies and operated a 24 hour gym.
