Surf Life Saving SA is seeking flexible and reliable individuals to join theSurfcom Emergency Operations Group — a critical component of the Support Operations Group that facilitates and coordinates a number of functions on behalf of SLSSA frontline members and services.

Involvement in the SurfCom Emergency Operations Group is open to suitably qualified members of all capabilities 15 years and over.

Based out of the Emergency Operations Centre at Surf Central, SurfCom presents an exciting, challenging and rewarding lifesaving pathway for those wanting to be part of Support Operations.

State and Development Teams Announced

The State and Representative Team Management Group (Bly Bayliss, Stephen Perry, Craig Nicholson and Penny McKenzie) along with support coaches and management (Andrew Chandler, Richie Cunningham – Development Team Coach, Murray Drummond, Anjie Collins and Claire Drummond) wish to announce and congratulate the following athletes who have been selected in the 2016/17 SLSSA State Team and 2016/17 Development Team.

We wish them well as they head to Queensland to compete in the Interstate Championships (State Team) and the Southern States Challenge (Development Team) in January. Good luck to them and the coaches.

Surf Life Saving SA CEO Clare Harris has been selected among the first female members of the Equal Opportunity Commission’s Chiefs for Gender Equity.

“I am delighted with the invitation to join the Chiefs for Gender Equity. I am passionate about equal opportunities for both genders in business and I am very optimistic that the political will and the current community investment in this issue is ready to make some significant and positive changes to the status of women professionally in South Australia” said Ms Harris.

SA's John Baker Appointed Deputy President of Surf Life Saving Australia

Surf Life Saving SA President John Baker was appointed Deputy National President on the weekend at the Surf Life Saving Australia National Board Meeting. His appointment is the first time a South Australian has ever held the office making him the highest ranking National Surf Life Saving officer ever to come from South Australia.  
 
Mr Baker is looking forward to making a significant impact on the future of Surf Life Saving in Australia and continuing the current trajectory of growth, innovation and modernisation for the organisation. He said “it’s an exciting time and I’m looking forward to continuing to support the President Graham Ford and the ambitions of our membership”.
